A hat trick for Shift Group !
For the third time, Groupe Shift renews its contract with Big River Steel in Arkansas.
Bécancour, January 22, 2025 – Shift Group is proud to announce the third renewal of its contract with Big River Steel, an international company renowned in the steel industry and a subsidiary of U.S. Steel. This strategic contract includes the continued development of the steel production management software, a new specific demand for the paint line of their second plant, and the assurance of a functional transition between the two production sites.
Founded in 1901, U.S. Steel is a major player in the steel industry with sales of over $20 billion. Big River Steel has invested $1.3 billion in the construction of the world’s first FlexiMC steelworks, producing a diverse range of steel products for the automotive, energy, construction and agricultural sectors.
Since its inception in 2017, Shift Group has worked with leading companies such as SeverCorr (SDI), North Star BlueScope Steel, and R.G. Steel, gaining valuable expertise in developing custom software for the manufacturing industry. Their initial collaboration with Big River Steel was a catalyst for the company’s launch.
Our partnership with Big River Steel is at the heart of our growth. This third contract renewal confirms the recognition of our expertise in the field of computer science applied to the steel industry. This specialization also allowed us to obtain a prestigious contract in Sweden last year. This new project allows us to continue developing our order and production management system, adapting it to their expanding needs. The implementation of new functionalities for their second plant will provide greater flexibility and better control of their internal operations,” explains Yannick Paradis, co-founder and business analyst for this project at Groupe Shift.
This contract will also allow Shift Group to hire three new developers and potentially launch an expansion project for their office, strengthening their capacity to support large-scale projects. “We are currently discussing this project with our building owner, Léon Béliveau, who has supported us since the beginning and shares our vision of continued growth,” says Francis Rondeau, Chairman of Groupe Shift.
